Embarking on a new health and fitness journey can be very daunting and unpredictable.  One of the best things about being part of a community to support and uplift you is the foundation is built from embracing the journey together. However, even with a support group of like-minded boss babes to keep you focused, so many questions can arise. Our focus in society is often on the bad and not the good, leaving us with millions of questions, most of them unhelpful and inaccurate. Let’s debunk some myths and talk about the real questions you should be asking while losing weight!

Instead of... Ask this...
How do you look? How do you feel?
How many sizes have you dropped? How are your clothes fitting?
Are you sleeping enough? Do you wake up feeling rested?
Is your stomach flat? Are you feeling less bloated?
Why isn't the number on the scale moving? How do you feel during and after a workout?
Why is this so easy for my friend/spouse/family member, etc? Why did I begin this journey, what is it doing for me?
Why is this so hard? What's my motivation for working out?
How many calories should I be eating? Am I focusing my diet around whole, healthy foods?

When you reflect on the question to the left of this chart, you see that a lot of them focus around the numbers and the superficial aspects of weight loss. The list on the right reminds you of the bigger purpose behind losing weight and getting healthy. Often times we focus so much on what’s on the outside, what we see when we look in the mirror, and what is on the scale. Starting a healthy diet and weight loss journey is so much more than just the numbers; it’s about how you feel. Weight loss is a great side effect from focusing on health and fitness.

Having a comfortable weight where you look good is definitely something to be excited for, but the more important aspect is how you feel. Are you crushing your workouts? Are you focusing on eating whole, healthy foods? Do you have more energy? Do you feel more vibrant? When you focus on feeding your body with healthy food and making time to move each day, the weight loss becomes inevitable, if your body has weight to lose. Sometimes we find ourselves in the best shape of our lives, our clothes fit better, we’re sleeping well, and the scale hardly moves! Remind yourself why you started this in the first place, and stay committed on your journey to being in the best shape of your life!
