There can be many reasons why you are hitting the gym 5 days a week and NOT seeing results. So many people think by just going to the gym they should start losing weight and feeling better. That simply is NOT the truth. There are other factors that go into it. Two main ones are diet and the type of exercise you are doing. If both of these are off then you will not see the results you want.

1)   Diet: ever hear the saying “you can’t outrun a bad diet?” Well you can’t! Diet is 85% of the puzzle piece and it needs to be consistent and on point. What you put into your body determines the type of results you get inside and outside of the gym. If you are working out and then eating french fries after… I am pretty sure that will void what you JUST did at the gym.

2)   Keep a food log: Most people have NO idea what they are eating. You may think you know, but most people are NOT mindful as to what they are putting into their mouth through out the day. Yup, that donut counts!

3)   You could be doing the wrong type of workouts: Interval/circuit training is where you burn fat and build muscle. A lot of people get on the treadmill and walk for 30 minutes (yes, this is better than doing nothing), but you need to raise your heart rate and then bring it back down. Doing sprints or fast paced walking for 30-45 seconds and then walking for 1 minute is the best thing to do. Refer to my blog on why HIIT is something you need in your life if you are trying to get results!

Bottom line is you need to make sure you are doing something that works for you. Everyone is different and everyone will respond differently to each thing. Log your food and keep track of what you are eating on a daily basis. Also switch up your workouts and make sure you aren’t plateauing.
