5 OF THE BEST BODY WEIGHT EXERCISES
As a personal trainer, I am always looking for exercises that really get the heart rate up and strengthen the muscles. I LOVE body weight workouts because they are super effective. I have my 5 go to exercises that I incorporate a lot into my client’s workouts. They are simple, but efficient! The best part is you can do these anywhere because no equipment is needed!
Burpees: When you hear this word…I am pretty sure you have a love/hate relationship with them. Why? Because they are tough, but a kick butt exercise! Burpees are a full body workout and the ultimate example of functional fitness.
Walking Lunges: Lunges are a great way to strengthen your hips and thighs. To make them more of an explosive plyometric movement you can do jumping lunges. That will add cardio and raise your heart rate. Can be done with or without dumbbells.
Squats: YAS! Some might say I am obsessed with squats…I am. Squats are a full body workout that works the core, legs, and glutes. You can even add a jump and do squat jumps to make it a cardio workout. Let’s be real…you can never do too many squats! Can be done with or without dumbbells.
Pushups: I must say, these are my go to for every workout. Pushups are a weight bearing exercise that help build up bone density in the arms, chest, and shoulders. These really help you build up your upper body strength.
Planks: You can say those again…PLANKS! Best core exercise with so many different variations. A strong core will help strengthen your back muscles. Many people suffer from lower back pain. Planks are a great way to start getting that core strong! You can modify on your knees.
